between Siena and Florence. Famous for its towers and architecture, which came to us as we see it due to a law promulgated in 1282 which prevented the demolition of the town&#8217;s houses except to build more beautiful ones. His\u00a0the city reached its maximum splendor a century later and has arrived as it was then, to the present day. It is located at the top of the hill on which the city is built and takes its name from the octagonal well that can be admired in its center. Harmonious and &#8220;cozy&#8221; it is the most beautiful square in San Gimignano and certainly one of the most beautiful in Tuscany.<br \/>Always the commercial heart of the city, it once housed rides, markets and fairs. Its shape is that of an inverted triangle, with a slight slope. The flooring is in red bricks arranged in a herringbone pattern, typical of Tuscan squares (think of Piazza del Campo in Siena, Piazza Vasari in Arezzo).
